tps question

RE: tps question
using a digital Volt, Ohm meter and check the voltage from the TPS sensor with the key on but motor off. voltage should be .95-.99 volts with the throttle closed. you can loosen the two screws holding it on and move it to adjust the voltage although you might need to elongate the slots in order to get it to .95 volts. wide open it should read around 5.0 volts. as you move the throttle, it should change smoothly as the throttle moves. most all of the sensors on the engine use 0-5 volts as the output signal back to the ECU.

RE: tps question
One Way Of Checking The TPS Voltage Is To Get Safety Pins And Stick Them Through The Green And Black Wires...Or Orange And Black..I Forget Which Two It Is. Anyway, Then You Just Touch The Leads Of Your Multi-meter To Those Instead Of Trying To Get A Reading Some Other Way. The Best Way To Get An Accurate Reading On Your TPS Is To Buy An In-line Display. I'm Not Sure Where To Get On Of These At (Maybe Ebay). It Just Plugs Right In Between The Two Existing Plugs On Your TPS. This Is By Far The Best Way To Be Able To Monitor Your TPS Voltage At Any Time.

RE: tps question
when i set mine i got over 5.0 when it was closed. then i found out i was using the wrong wires. you should be reading from the black and green. when to try those, it should work.
no one answered the question about if this would change his car from running rich. i was just wandering cause mine is running lean.
EDIT: in response to X_L_R_8 's post about the gauge in the car reading the tps...couldnt you get a regular volt meter gauge and instead of hooking it up to the battery, splice into the black and green wire on the tps and hook the volt meter to that? you know, using those "piggy back" clamp things that when you squeez on them they connect to the wire. although it may be hard to find on that can read such small numbers. most start at 8 volts and go up
