Default car wont start???

i went out last night and was doing some racing/tuning of the car and found out is is running rich so i going to have to fix that but my question is i went to a gas station and turned the car off to get some gas. i went to try to start it back up and the lights flicked and dimmed. i figured the bat cable was loose so i tightedend them and the same thing. i then took the cables off completely and cleaned the terminals. same thing. i have a brand new bat about 2 months old. brand new starter. so i am lost i now it is not getting a good connection because the bat gauge will jump around stay normal then go into the red. and when u turn the key it all goes to hell???? i am clueless and suggestions.

If it seems to be a connection you might need to check the ground too, not just the battery post side but the other one as well that connects to the block. Have you check the alternator or the voltage regulator? It's hard to imagine just what's going on, like does it turn over at all? If there's nothing and the power is there then yea, the selonoid would be your best bet.

not necessarily true about the bad electrics. I've never had a problem with my 88 except for old age wearing out a few things, but no bad electrical stuff.
