Default afr 165 and KB

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if the KB s/c will fit w/ the afr 165 heads? when i look on their price list it says that they have 6psi kit w/AC-GT40 Lower? are they talkn about heads and if so will they fit with the afr heads? and can you provide a link where i can find it? and the blowzilla is a lot cheaper compared to 4.6L KB s/c's which is why i'm think about just getting an old fox body as my play toy and using my 06 V6 as my DD.

If i do go through with this i will get afr 165 heads w/CAI and Edelbrock Intake & lower? How does this sound and what do you think my gains would be w/ those mods N/A of course?

my main question is whether or not KB has a S/C that will fit on the afr 165 heads? I know i have to convert it to Fuel Injected to add da a s/c.

theyre referring to the lower intake. all 302 heads will fit the same, or they wouldnt fit at all. see, this intake bolts on to your lower intake, taking place of your upper intake. so if youre running it you shouldnt waste $$ on an upper intake, just get a lower. get one that flows reallt good too. like the rpm II from edelbrock. heads dont play a part in the installation of this s/c. and id also run the 185cc heads with the biggest combustion chamber so youll have a lower compression. you should have your bottom end built a little stouter, with forged internals and dish style pistons.

Get the AFR 165's but get a ford GT-40 or Cobra intake instead of Edlebrock

gt-40 lower is the lower half of the intake manifold
ford made stock intake manifolds and "GT-40" intake manifolds

you will want to get a GT-40 lower intake manifold to get the most
out of the Kenne Bell blower.

5.0's already are fuel injected so dont know what you mean there.

make sure you get an '89 or newer since they have MassAir.

KB blower will work AWESOME with AFR 165's and a GT-40 lower intake manifold.

this isn't the best intake but it has the GT-40 lower you want for the KB blower

the KB blower takes the place of the upper intake manifold.

with the KB blower you want to use the GT-40 lower intake, they designed their
high flow s/c just for that lower intake

i didnt realize that. you do need to get the lower intake that its designed to work with.

ok so i need to,

afr 185cc heads-question, do they come with springs & rocker arms already assembled?
forged bottom- forged push rods, pistons, camshaft, rotating assembly. Anything else i'm missing?
Then KB S/C.
3.73 & Tlok?gears afterwards

Well if i build up the engine first then that would be would be my first mod for a while. How much hp would you say i'd be making with afr 185 heads and forged rotating assembly? price? links?

Would this StageII Engine Kit suffice from modular performance> Will it come with all the forged parts that i need? of course i know the heads are seperate
https://mustangforums.com/post.asp?d...403&toStyle=tm

Sorry for all da questions but i'm 17. I'm a young gear head. Thnx to my dad i'm a Ford guy, I have seen the light and resisted the urge to sink 10K+ into a P.O.S honda that ricers buy for 2k. I love American Muscle!!!

oh, Its not like i'm like what does this thingamagigger do???? I was just getting a lil confused. I've heard something about GT-40 heads and i wasn't thinkn of lower intake but thnx for the replies. Thnx guys I've priced it out and besides the price of the car i would end up spending about 4k to rebuild the engine w/ heads forged rotating assembly and will have to wait on the blower. This would be my first engine rebuild so of course i'd have to read up on it. I guess it isn't so bad being broke, it forces me to not be lazy and do the work myself except for gears of course.

thnx guys, keep the replies going. Anyother ideas on what i should do to it if i had lets say 5k to put into the engine?

you want modular performance? new '06 GT makes about 275rwhp.

stock 302 with ...........

exhaust ......... $1,000
underdrive pullie ....... $200-300
Trickflow top end kit ........ $2,200 ( new cam, heads, rockers, pushrods, intake, valve covers, gaskets, timing chain )
65mm TB ............. $150
70mm mass air .......... $150
Cold air intake ........... $150
(all can bought at summit )

275 rwhp.

slap some 3.73 gears in there and your done. you need to upgrade the chasis on the 5.0 stangs too.
sub-frame connectors, control arms, k-member and strut tower braces, ect.....
put a KB blower on later and push 400 or more rwph.

You won't believe how many times i get that. Why didn't you just get a 06 GT. Maybe b/c my insurance company would rape me on my monthly payments. but thats besides the point. I want something that i could be proud to say and isn't that common where i'm from. Around here its mostly 96's -Up GT and if that, mostly ricers.

I know the ol' fox bodies are a lot cheaper to mod and thats why i want to get one. I found a 93 for 7k w/ 50K miles on it, but i'll need to get that down to about 5k. I plan on building the motor to handle boost first which shouldn't be more than 4k including tools. Then later slapping a KB blower on their. Then suspension upgrades. But i'll probably end up staying N/A once i build up the motor for a while b/c i'll be starting college in August. I'm gonna have to commute so i don't want to put too many miles on my new stang.

That and my dad used to have 2 fox bodies and sold them, in the early 90's. He still regrets them. I'll end up getting him to help me do the build up during the summers so its all good. Sorry for the life story but i'm extremely bored.
