Belt Problem
Well my alternator was making really loud clunking noiess, later found out that the bearing it is going. So i took the alternator off to go buy a new one and get money returned on the core. Ended up buying a brand new 100 amp one so they didn't take my core so i went to put it back on while i'm waiting for it to get here. When i put the belt on it was rubbing on each other on the alternator side of the water pump. Would i have stretched the belt when i was taking it off or what would cause this? I tryed to adjust it but moving the alternator and power steering pump away. It works until i started it up then it starts rubbing again.

RE: Belt Problem
Not sure exactly what you mean but if you bypassed the smog pump I kinda know what you mean. Check to make sure you put the alt. back in the correct holes and check to make sure the tensioner isnt pushing on the belt so hard that it rubs. If its the tensioner you might need a different belt if it wount put enough tension on it when you reset it.

RE: Belt Problem
yeah if you deleted your smog pump that could be why it is rubbing. If you did or the person did before you, you have to route the belt a diff way ill try to make a picture for you

ok thats how it should be routed with no ac and no smog lol so its a little rough but you get the point. To Identify pulleys go from top to bottom left to right so its: TENSIONER
ALT P/S
WATERPUMP
CRANK
