jesus, seriously 460?

if you want the best block go with a DART 302. Its strong enough to be stroked up to a 460!![sm=smiley16.gif] but a crap load of money. But if you got the money go with that and stroke it to a 460.

RE: 5.0 block
Hey MustangKid, are you sure you're talking about the 5.0 block and not the 5.8 block. On ford's racing website, they have a siamese 351W w/9.5 in. deck height that they say can be bored/stroked to 454 cubic in. How is it possible to get 460 out of a 5.0?
By the way, here's the link to Ford Racing:

You're gonna lvoe the production 5.0 when you start making power....they love to split right down the middle

It seems that they suggest a Dart block instead

RE: 5.0 block
I wouldn't be so quick to call it bull****. Aftermarket blocks are designed with a stronger design to allow for more stroking and especially overboring. The Indian Adventures aftermarket Pontiac block can be bored and stroked to get 632 cubes out of it. It's the same size as a stock Pontiac block (455 being the largest from the factory) with a slightly taller deck height. It's also possible to get 472 cubes out of a 350 block. Not as much of a stretch as 302 to 460, but still a big jump. It all depends on how the block was designed.

RE: 5.0 block
ok well i talked to the company at the out show you can NORMALLY stroke it only out to 454 but with this block you can go even higher. I don't have any physical proof but I talked to the guy. It had reinenforced everything. 4 Bolt mains. It was a race block basically. The block is going to be priced at around 3000. Very expensive. It was at Autorama, I didn't get a picture of it. Well check out this article http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...ck/index.shtml It talks about the block from dart and in the last paragraph it says
"With a total of four block configurations being offered by Dart, it is a sure bet that you'll see quite a few racers using the Iron Eagle as a platform for anything from a blown 302 to a 428+ displacement strokers. Stay tuned for more details when we can get our hands on one! F/M"
I hope that is enough proof for everyone. So next time I will have to pull out all my info to prove to you that I know what I am talking about? Its no problem, I just know now that I have to.

RE: 5.0 block
in addition to the larger overbores with this block, you can get it with a much higher deck height than a stock 5.0, that's how they get the extra cubes, but then that makes it really hard to get intakes for it due to the width they need to be to fit up correctly.
