weight reduction
i forget who it was but somebody on here has a stock engined mustang in the 12s. it obviously has lots and lots of weight taken out of it. what all can be taken out to shave 2+ secs. off a car's 1/4 mile et?

RE: weight reduction
ASSuming that for every 100lbs removed you gain a tenth in the quarter, it would take a lot of weight to shave 2 full seconds off of your times. more than likely those that have hit 12s with a stock engine have other mods (gears and slicks) as well as the weight reduction. suspension helps a lot too.

You can try with the pad underneath the carpet first . But it is a pain to get off, and if the inside doesent really matter to you, then you can also take off door panels and replace them with thin gauge sheatmetal or not, its up to you . If you have the gt also depending on how serious you are you can take off the ground effect kit, Again up to you. spare tire, trunk carpet smog pump delete ac, delete , And if you really got money light weight Windsheild glass . Just some of the many >>>>>>>>>

I gained 4 tenths of a second, after gutting my car. I posted how to lose weight a couple of days ago you can see what all there is to do. good luck.
and as for the padding under the carpet its easy to take off.
