Default BLOCK HELP? 331 Stroker

im building a 331 stroker for my 1993 5.0 i have a block im using as a base that is from 1977. im need to know if there is anything i need to do for it to fit my fox body or be compatible with fuel injection even if the only part i am using is the actual block. i plan on using trick flow heads with my ported cobra intake, a chp stroker kit, a compcams retro-fit roller cam kit cuse its not a roller block, etc. is there anything i should know. does this sound like a good setup. i know a lot im a ford mechanic but ive never used an older block for a newer setup. thanks guys.

you can get special lifters from comp cam, so you can run any roller cam you want
part# 8931-16
i couldnt get the part number to show up on comp cam or jegs website, but i got it to show up on summit
summit had them for $549.39
im going through the same thing you are, but i have a 408
their is not alot of cams to choose from in the retro fit style ,and the lifters are too $high for the hydrolic roller i was going to use
so im going to put a solid roller in mine
my buddy has a 347 and a 408, he had to grind on the block for the rods to clear using H-Beam rods
im using I-beams, and i didnt have to grind anything
(comp cam website page 52 - 55 under technical info, ford)- lifters)
good luck

thanks a lot. what about the comp cams retro fit kits, do those work with fuel injection? it says its not recommended for it but i don't see why not, and they come with lifters for the same price as those lifters. thanks alot.

Just use a solid roller cam and lifter, disregard that retro kit, the cam selection for retro kits is minimal, not to mention they use a small base circle cam which is terrible on valvetrain at high rpm. Regular solid rollers are tied together with a tie bar, ya drop em in and go. No need for that spyder hold down like the hydraulic roller 302's

bad thing on those cams is wear and since it a soild which have different profile can be a headache for a dd driver....why not ditch the block for which you'll pay in those retro kits you can get a 351w and be ahead of the game in cubic and having a stout block that can withstand over the socalled 500hp limit on most 302
