RE: nasty door panel pockets
you could switch to the 87-89 door pannels. they dont have the map pockets, I believe they started the map pockets in 90' through 93'.

RE: nasty door panel pockets
the pockets look good when they dont sag
ive been thinking about taking mine off but i think they are threaded into the panel |
RE: nasty door panel pockets
To get them off take the panel off and flip the little clips up then pull the pocket off. I took ours off since they looked like crap. I had some black carpet lying around so I put that on there. I just recovered the masonite board (think thats what it is). Looks pretty good sinc ethe top of the dash is gray and since the rear carpet is black (it looked bad so I replaced it also). The pocket just come off the board by pulling the staples out. The button has to be drilled out. Its no problem though.

RE: nasty door panel pockets
i just had my door panels reupholstered and whenever he done them i had him take everything off of the panel except for the tweed carpet above where your arm goes. I love them. Its alot cheaper to get them upholstered than it is to buy new ones off ebay or to buy the repo ones on 50resto. I also had him redo my backseat like 60's mustang style. I was happy with the results and got new carpet now i have a brand new interior (including the bucket pleather seats from summit).
Here are pics of the panels and the back seats. I got em both from a junk yard and took him to the guy and he hooked em up :-) panels http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...Picture035.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...Picture030.jpg seats http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...Picture031.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...Picture032.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...Picture033.jpg |
