Stock Fuel Pressure @ Idle

mine is at 31, ford claims it should be between 30-45... isnt 31 just a little low?

RE: Stock Fuel Pressure @ Idle

i thought it was 10 psi per 1000 revolutions?

going off my stock gauge (ya i know..) it starts off a little below the middle and as i start driving it rises to a little over the middle and stays there even if im at 1000 or 5000 rpms

it should be fine, but if you start modding it, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator could get you more power by raising the fuel pressure.

I dont understand that whole increase fuel pressure reg thing, as I understand stock fuel pressure is at 39 psi and it adjusts itself all the time with differnt mods. Such as if you increase the timing the computer will read that and see the need and throw more fuel in the mix..............From what I understood from a few guys even if you put a adjustable reg on a mild engine the computer will still do what it wants with pressure? I heard many different reviews on this and I was always wondering what the definative answer was.

to a certain extent,
the computer is always adjusting to get that stoich air/fuel mix
so, over time if you raised the pressure, the computer will shorten/lengthen the injector pulsewidths to try to achieve that a/f ratio it was programmed for I think it is 14.7-1

RE: Stock Fuel Pressure @ Idle

Therfore unless you need to run some extreme fuel pressure they are kinda useless, and a tune on the engine can do that and sooooooo much more? Right? I have 2 of the damn things and I think they are kinda useless well the one on my MAF car is useless but my SD is handy as hell.

RE: Stock Fuel Pressure @ Idle

my car runs better and starts/idles better with 31psi
I had it at 40psi for a long time and idled up and down, and ran hot.

I think it also has something to do with the injector duty cycle, the injectors are rated at 40psi.
if you run less pressure, then the pulsewidths will be longer and vice cersa.

I want to learn more about that stuff then get a twEECer I downloaded the guide for it just havn't studied it enough to spend the cash yet! I run lean at idle and rich afterwards..........NEED TUNE.........Speed Density sucks
