Default efi dilemma

ok. i want to go back to fuel injection. when i started the swap to a carbed 351, gas was not 3.00 a gallon. my dilemma is this: do i try to use a tweecer to get my factory computer to run a hopped up 351, and one day a hopped up 418, or do i just get an aftermarket stand-alone efi computer? price is not necessarily an object. ease of tuning is. so is flexibility. anybody have any input on the matter?

Your stock computer will work fine, firing order is same and 5.0 wiring harness works fine.
You could probably plug it in with stock program and it would run, if not great.

yes you can use Tweecer or you can call in to a custom chip burner and tell them what you have
and they can burn you a custom chip for stock computer.

Tweecer will let you mod your EEC when ever, but cost twice as much
and you have to pay for dyno tune anyway.

I plan on using stock computer and Tweecer when I do my 351 conversion.

Also, check out GT-40 5.8L lower intake manifolds on ebay off Lightning truck.
or TrickFlow makes a 351 lower intake also.

twEECer is pretty easy to use, if you're familiar with it, or you know what parameters to set everything at.

im not sure about a stand alone computer, i've never really messed with one or seen em used that much. but that might actually be easier.

but i think twEECer would let you control more than just the fuel injection.

i'm leaning toward aem or fast. the fast xfi costs more, and i really think the aem is more versatile. teh aem will allow you to control fuel pumps, fans, nitrous, boost, and just about anything else. it also supports both speed density and mass air. i know that there is lots of support available for all three, meaning the tweecer, aem, and fast, i'm just having a hard time deciding.

i plan to use a pro products carb intake that has been modified woth fuel rails for efi. the whole thing with rails and a regulator is about 450 shipped. one of the reasons i'm thinking about the aem or fast is the ability to use speed density efi. that means that i don't have to adapt a tb to the carb intake, i can just use a 4bbl tb.

i just can't make up my damn mind.
