If it's an Auto shut the car off in Drive... If not just release the clutch a bit while it's in 1st gear, shut the key off, and it will stop doing it...

It shouldn't be doing that if its fuel injected. Once the key is off there shouldn't be any spark or fuel being put into the engine. On carb cars when timing is too high it will do it.

you time it? if you time it with the vaccum advance hooked up it makes the timing off enough to do that.

Generally the idle being too high causes this. What's yours set at?

i'll tell you something else that will cause it. if you have an aftermarket ignition, say msd for instance, and the wire that comes from the ignition that turns the ignition on is connected to the wrong thing, it will pick up enough electricity from the alternator continuing to turn to keep the engine running. that's why msd has that little wiring diagram with the diode in the circuit...msd calls it run on.
