does gears honestly make that big of a difference? does anybody have 355s and an automatic and 373s and an automatic? i wanna know the rpm diff at speeds.

here you go, and b4 you do 3.73 or even worse , 3.55, check your door tag under "ax" you might have 3.27's and won't even notice a change to 3.55, and minimal to 3.73. 4.10's are very needed for aod's, and i owned 2 so i know. both had 3.73's and both sucked , still bogged a little with tires on it.
anyways......
3.55's = 2984 3rd gear
= 2029 od
3.73's = 3136 3rd gear
= 2132 od
4.10's = 3447 3rd gear
= 2344 od
1 full second of ET knocked off = 10 car lengths in the 1/4
+100 hp = about 10 car lengths in the 1/4
thats typical for a street car, start getting over 400 hp and it doesn't work that way though
a gearswap from 3.08 to 4.10 (w/ full traction....sticky tires) should be worth a full second
aod's need gear , gear and more gear. 3000 stall converter and 3.73's might be ok, 300 stall + 4.10's even better.
here's why:
1st gear in a t5= 3.35
1st gear aod = 2.40
1st gear X rear gear = total gear
total gear for a 5 speed w/ 3.08's (10.31) is more than a aod w/ 4.10's (9.84)
only at 3rd gear (4th for t5) aod will have more , since they are both a 1:1 in highest non od gear, aod = 4.10 and the t5= 3.08

sry to hijack again LOL, but what about for an 05? comes with 3.55 stock, would 4.10's have the same effect on feel (butt dyno)? would it become a pain in the *** for daily driving (around town)?
