I just dont know what cost 1400 dollars. I use titanium valves in some race motors and dont cost that much.

Valves, spring, locks, retainers, valve stem seals, guide plates, screw in studs, pushrods, head gaskets, and new head bolts. I know i could have got a set of tfs or afr's for that motor alot cheaper. The car was a 66 Mustang coupe and I didnt want aluminum heads on it. I am not looking for a pissing match over what I spent and what you have spent on a set of heads for the best performance wise thats not the issue. I asked if the Thumper heads were worth the money or not. This motor in the 86 I have now I dont care what goes on it head wise just trying to build a low budget motor and see what I can get out of it thats all. Also would like to add I am not mad or looking for an e-argument so I am though posting on this thread even though it is mine.

i wasn't trying to make ya feel bad... i think the thumper heads are will worth it... you should just get his combo 3 (12 second proven combo) and call it a day. that way you dont have to disassemble the motor.

It wasnt you ieatrice. And it didnt make me feel bad I just do things the way I want and not what everyone else does thats the perks of it being my car. So I can do whatever I want with it wether anyone approves or not. I was just looking for a simple answer on if they where worth the money or not and got way off track. I have built plenty of motor and know what I am doing. I just havent heard of the thumper heads company before and was curious. After al they flow better numbers than any of the gt40 heads so why would you pay 300-400 for a set of gt-40 or 1000 for the x's and not flow the same numbers for 700 set of ported e7 heads. If you buy used gt-40 for 300-400 and dont get them cleaned up and a valve job and resurfaced before installing them you are crazy. Plus by the time you do all the stuff desribed you are about the same into them and not getting as good numbers.

I think that the Thumpers are not a good bang for the buck purchase. But I thought that even before I bought a pair. I was just building a sleeper at the time and the money wasn't an issue. But money is better spent on a set of used aluminum heads.

Well Damnit...I was thinkin 'bout gettin a set of Thumper heads [>:] Now I don't know what to do...I would buy a used set of gt40ps and get 'em cleaned/ported/polished...but I don't even know if there's a place around here that would do that for me Plus I don't know how much it would cost to get the heads put in [&:] Anyone got any ideas? Or just I just go for a 100 shot of NOS?

(Sorry to jack the thread)

I have been this route and you end up with enough money in them to buy aluminum heads. Really it isnt worth it unless you just want the stock look. Which is why i was considering them good luck in whatever you decide. I think I am just gonna go with the afr 165 but still in toss up on the tfs as well. It will be one of those two but which is unclear at the moment.
