carb swap wires not matching up with fletchers
Just a quick question. I finally decided to wire the car today and installed the new MSD box and dizzy and was wiring in the fuel pump according to FLetchers post and the grey harness was the same but when I peeled back the tape on the black harness all I had were white/pink white/pink white/yellow white/blue and others The wires I need are not there or not the right color. I have a 89 gt and there is only the two plugs I have a hanes manual and not a chiltons but it lists my colors as the same as fletchers article. Why are mine different? anyone know which wires are for the temp, oil,tan/light green or the red??

Are you sure you have the right harness? Normally if 2 different sources list something the same, normally they are right. Is it possible the conversion was for a speed density car and the wires are different on a mass air car. Do you have a link to fletchers post? I will be doing the same swap, I have my carb and intake just need to get a distributer and pickup.

I followed fletchers write up. All I know is that the guy I bought it from is the origional owner and it is a 89 gt. I have the black and grey plugs at the booster. The grey plug is correct but the black plug has the different color wires than whats listed in the article. it is a 289,xxx mile car if it is a speed density car doese anyone know the wire colors at the black plug. I can run a relay for the fuel pump but would like to keep it simple. I have all autometer gauges but would still like the stock to work as well. I will keep searching , maybe they change colors in the harness. I will put a locator on the wires and see where they go. thanks again Will

I found it. the fuel pump is a brown and pink wire on mine. Also checked a neighbors lx convertable and hatch and were the same as mine. anyway all of them are hooked up now and working. as soon as I find a block plate for the motor I can put on the flywheel and bolt it all up and drive now. thanks again
