Can't Hook Up...
 

I was wondering what kinda stuff do you guys use to hook up on the street as well as the track. Me and my brother were goofin around the other day and decided to race each other... Long story short the hands came down and I immediately blew my tires off and went straight to 7k... I get zero traction on the street as well as the track, worst of all I don't even leave cool black marks!

Basically I got stock suspension 3.55's and 275/40/17's. I have new upper and lower control arms coming and I plan on getting some slicks or drag radials for the track since I'm just a weekend racer. Will this help me hook WAY better?

What do you guys suggest for a tire combo, slicks or drag radials, and what size? I hear bad things happen to stick cars with slicks on, and this is my DD and don't wish to break things I can't afford at the moment.

u should hook wayy better w/ the d rad's..cant help u w/ ur other q's

slicks/.....yeah definatly or some wide tires like slicks!

ok just actually read ur post i guess ive never herd about anything worse happinging wth slicks than without when you race. chances are better youll kill someone/thing streetracing so who knows

Not sure I can go wider than 275s at this point, I have bad rub issues as it is. Anyone gotta tire suggestion for good road grip. I have Kumho Ecsta MX's on the back right now. I have a Tru-Trac posi too, so its not like I'm running around with a one tire fire. It just sucks cause I gotta leave the line from an idle or I just go up in smoke ya know? How tall/wide of slicks do you suggest?

that means ur trac-lok shouldve been rebuilt..dont need it now

umm some people say nitto's are good for the street..but idk..im not a tire kinda guy

o i got toyo proxys 4's and for the price im not getting Great traction but there a good all season tire being in MN

i like mickys myself. but after you get your new upper and lower control arms you can get rid of your quad shocks and run a little wider tire.

How about new springs/shocks? Will that help too? I gotta question for you guys too, I got like a almost air bag lookin thing inside my coil sping is that normal? I'll take a picture for you in a couple seconds so you can see.
