What mods to get a stock 5.0 into the 13s?
Hi...next month I'm picking up a 93 GT, AOD (w/ shift kit), 3.73 rear...103k miles.
Curious, what mods would get the car into the 13s? I'd like to avoid heads and a cam if possible. I'm thinking like headers, full exhaust, intake manifold and custom air intake. Would this be enough?
How hard would it be and how much would it cost?

What else would I need?
I'm not gonna spray it. I have problems with nitrous, but I don't wanna go into it cause I know some members here are running it

Look at my sig im an 89 but theres no difference. Make sure you do upper and lower intake and at least a 65mm throttle body. Dont forget the torque converter too it kicks ***.

Okay, thanks. Looks like I've got some work to do.
Smokesricers - does your transmission shift REALLY hard with that kit? I test drove the 93 and it was such a hard shift I'd almost describe it as a clunk...but when flooring it it would cause it to spin in second. Just makes me worry, doesn't feel right. It only does it on the 1-2 shift. he told me that when he had the tranny rebuilt he had the shift kit removed except for the 1-2 shift. All the rest of the shifts are ver smooth.

you're not going to get to 13s unless you do something besides an intake and exhaust.
personally, i wouldnt do anything to what you have besides 4.10 rear gears, drag radials, and 100-150 shot of nitrous. i guarentee that will get you into the 13s if not the 12s.

. It was a crazy hard shift, felt clunky.okay, throw a cam in on top of the full intake and exhaust...will that work?
I won't use nitrous.

you're not gonna get 13s unless you rebuild the motor. heads, cam, intake, full exhaust.
the easiest way is putting a power adder on it.
the cheapest way is nitrous.

Definately not. You can bottle feed it and cross your fingers. But 13's with simple boltons isnt gonna happen.

1. good custom converter
2. drag radials or slicks
3. some suspension mods
4. full exhaust system
and some dyno time playing with the timing and fuel pressure.
those along with what you have should get you in the 13's

Well I'm relieved I don't have to worry about the transmission - I orignally thought that mega hard shift was a problem...but the tranny was rebuilt 1,000 miles ago so I'm relieved [:@][:@]
