Default Steel cowl hood?????

Hey guys, I'm looking for some feedback in regard to aftermarket steel hoods. I'm having no luck getting a fiberglass one from cervinis or harwood due to shipping problems. I've received 2 damaged ones now and promptly sent them back. Now I've got a line on steel cowl hoods direct from Canada. Anybody know anything about these steel ones.....quality, fitment, looks etc. etc. Thanks!

Why would you want a steel cowl hood? It's gonna add MORE weight. The point of getting an aftermarket hood is to lighten the car and for clearance issues. Your adding weight that you don't need to. Granted I understand you want your car to look better too but still the extra weight isn't worth it.

Hi FoxRod, I don't want the steel hood I want the fiberglass one but I can't get a good one friggen shipped. I ordered my first one almost 3 months ago, waited 6 weeks got it....... damaged. Got the new one 4 weeks or so later it too was......... damaged. [:@][:@]
I need the cowl hood so my GT40 intake/spacer will clear the hood, it's no where near clearing the stock hood, so I'm driving around with a mint car but my hood sits totally off, cuz I've got it jacked up with washers so it doens't damage the intake. It's a little more of a pain in the butt to get parts here in Canada shipped up especially something that big. This is driving me nuts already.

Ohhhhhhh so you do need it for clearance issuess. Ok see that changes things. I don't have any experience with aftermarket steel hoods though. There is a vendor on this site called Carbon Ware that sells Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass hoods check them out. And see if they can ship to Canada.

Goodmark lists a 2 in cowl steel hood. 5.0 Resto lists it in the new 5.0 and Superfords mag. You might be able to get one shipped from there or direct from Goodmark.

yeah goodmark makes some mice hoods(maybe call and ask for a seconds hood where the latch holes arent centered correctly and maybe u can save a few bucks!) and an advantage of the steel hood it will not take as much work to make it look good since most fiberglass hoods are wavy
