ok, I was exadurating there, I dont always drive it like that, just 3/4 of the time.
but really, if I keep it above 2500 rpm the temp will rise to 190-195, and then if I shut it off, in about 1 minute the temp goes to 210.
sometimes when I start it when its that hot it has a couple of dead cylinders.
I thought it might be the coil, or the ignition module so I changed both and it only did it once since I changed them, but I dont want it to get that hot, especially when I race it at the track.
whats exadurating???? [&o]
oh, an 3/4 of the time still seems excessive....

I drive it nice sometimes.
like when I broke in my gears for 150kms, and when I broke in my motor for 1000kms, and my clutch for 500kms.
I do drive it hard because thats why I built it.

anyways, if it is above 2500rpm it gets hotter than the 180 it should stay at.
will adding a 1800cfm fan help cool it down, or will I need something over 2500cfm?

Me thinks that you dont have to worry unless your car goes over 200.... but put a good 25 lb cap on your radiator so you dont boil all your fluid from your radiator...

I dont like the sound of that, 25 lb sounds a little excessive, I have a 16 lb on there now.

I am just worried about blowing coolant into my intake from too much pressure.

would having more air flow through the radiator cool it more?
it didnt get hot like this until I put on some longtube headers

That would imply that you have bad seals... otherwise i dont think so...

ok then, I will try a new 25# cap and another fan.
hopefully it will stay around 180 degrees.

another question, will a blown headgasket make it heat up like that too?
when I had my stock waterpump, griffin rad and stock heads it wouldnt budge from 180, and when I used the nitrous it actually cooled it more. I had the same fan on there.
I know that aluminum heads heat up more than steel ones, but that much?

what is your setup for cooling randy?

im running a fluidyne radiator, 25# cap, and an electric fan... the engine runs between 190-200F.... i live in laredo, tx where we have two seasons: hot an fuking hot.... like 110F.... Now another point... dont know your engine... mine is relatively new and never seen anything but distilled water/antifreeze in the engine... an older engine (if yours is) will have mineral deposits, etc that effect cooling... another thing to consider.... flush your radiator frequently and dont believe you dont need antifreeze/coolant in your system in the summer cuz there are anti-rust, anti-etc in the solution that helps your engine....
