I like the idea of making and selling the insulators, the problem is that they would probably cost as much or more than the ones currently out there. That stuff costs $11.50 a foot!!!!! Fortunatly I was able to find some scrap, yeah scrap that's it.

ain't it funny how scrap good stuff shows up in the shop trash just when you need it! LOL
you would be amazed at the "scrap" some of the mechanics where I used to work could find in the trash and then had the nerve to ask for a materials pass so they could take it home. LOL one guy asked my racing buddy to sign a pass for some scrap diamond plate aluminum to use on his truck and when my friend asked how big was it, the guy told him 4x6 feet! My friend almost died laughing when he told me this one and naturally he had to turn the guy down even though he came him credit for trying anyway! I kinda miss dumpster diving myself now that I've retired! It's a shame what a big company throws away these days since the bean counters keep telling us it's cheaper to buy new rather than repair the old. When I retired, the total cost for our craftsmen was figured at over $55/hour with only $30/hour in actual pay, the rest was benefits. You could make a handsome living buying our so-called scrap metal and doing minor repairs on things and re-selling them back to us! When I first starting working there over 30 years ago, I used to wonder why so many guys drove pick-up trucks, but I soon found out the real reason. LOL
