Default Head Studs or Bolts

If you were going to put new heads on your car would u use head bolts or studs. what are the pros and cons between the 2?

studs if you have the room to pull them off, better clamping properties and its much easier when hanging over the fender holding an iron head. Alot of people cant run studs as there is not enough room to pull the head off, usually runs into something

Are you going to be running a blower?

Some say, if you use studs, you can't get the heads off without removing the motor. I have never had that problem with any of the heads I have used with studs. I have been able to remove them without much difficulty.

We built a motor with head bolts and an S-trim with 15# of boost was pushing the head off of the block during dyno runs. We put studs on it and it never happened again.

no not blowing it anytime soon. have you put head studs on any small block fords in fox mustangs?

The one in which I spoke of with the head lifting problem was one of them - a red convertible.

then i should be a-ok im saving for my trick flow heads i have 830 in the bank should i get a 58cc chamber or a 61cc chamber? this is going to be a DD car that i want to run good. i was thinking the 58 would bump up the compression more but im not shure what i want to do yet.

go with 58cc's.....stud that damn thing!...when i blew my afr's i went studs....room is ok....my l/t's fought with me a little...i didn't feel like crawling under the car...and unbolting them...
