4 bang tranny compared to 8
How do these two compare?
I noticed they have the exact same numbers, the only thing I could find different was the tip of the pilot shaft. Are there any internal differences? Will it be able to hold up with all of the power the 5.0 has?

some say it is the same tranny with a smaller output shaft, in my eyes I see it as being very weak.
its like going from 28 spline axles to 20 spline axles, which one will break faster?
I wouldnt trust them.
especially since the 4 banger puts mabye 75hp at the wheels compared to the 5.0 at around 190. stock compared to stock

The guy that put it in said it will keep up with normal driving. Its just the all of the burnouts and fishtails that will mess it up....and what 16 year old doesn't do that? Is this right? I've heard a lot of different opinions, and I trust you guys the most.

do it right the first time and you will only have to do it once,
I would rather spend a little more now, than to have to change it more than once, and it will be cheaper in the long run too.

The Gear Ratio's are also different.
When I had one in my car I dropped from doing 85MPH in second to 55MPH in second.
I had mine in for about a Year and a Half and hated every minute of it.
It was the DD and we were low on $$$ so it took a while to get a good one.

The 4cyl tranny has steeper gears in it. Gears help multiply the torque so the car will pull it's own a$$. That's why most of those 7.5" rearends were factory 3.73s. The 3.73 rear gears and steeper tranny gears combined help the tiny motor make enough power to get it going. You hav to figure you are still pulling almost the same weight as the V8 car only with half the power. That's how it's done.
So if you put the 4cyl tranny behind the V8, it won't rev as high because of the gear change. I think the 55mph and 85mph is a little extreme though. But it's the same principle. And I've seen several guys go deep 12s and hang the front wheels in V8 cars on 4cyl T5s.
