$2,300 turn-key rebuild w/ forged pistn.
Got a quote to rebuild my engine to 306 with forged pistons and steel crank
new cam and refurbished heads for $2,300.
This is 100% turn-key, drive it in and drive it out price.
Sounds good to me. What do you guys think?

If that includes parts, labor, removing and installing the engine, tuning (getting the idle right, fuel pressure, yadda yadda), new sensors, fluids, and WARRANTY, that's not a bad deal.

Not a huge deal, I dont see a hitch you can buy bone stock longs for a 1000, the 302's are everywhere, millions made, it has hit chevy 350 status as far as cores, parts and availability is concerend, there making atleast 600+ on the whole deal.

that was with Forged pistons and steel crank, new FMS cam
refurbished heads, bored to 306, re-use sensors and hoses
but they do ALL the work.
just hand them the keys and drive it away aftwards.
comes with 3 year 36,000mile warranty on parts and workmanship

It sounds like your trying to talk yourself into it being a good deal, the forged piston is a no big deal as far as price goes, claimer forged pistons are less than 100 bucks for jobbers, the crank is another no biggie and useless in a 302, matter of fact I dont believe it quite frankly. Regardless if its a good deal for your pocketbook thats all that matters, but to think there not making atleast 600+ from the job would be naive and they wouldnt be in business. my 2cents

wouldnt get steel crank or forged pistons at all, but the Hellion turbo is next
i dont mind paying $600 in labor, that sounds more than reasonable to me, I understand they have
a business to run and are providing a service and warranty
thanks for the input

HP makes a good kit but expect up to 6 month wait to get it and a bunch
b.s. from customer service.
hellion has kits in stock and is only one i could find that retained the smog pump.
these guys make a good kit too, but again expect a 3-6 month wait and bunch of b.s. as to why.
