Just finished putting a Demon 750 on a twin screw B&M 174 series charger....in a 94' 5.0 over the weekend. Took it for a test run and it absolutely flys...until we smoked the clutch. But yeah, nothing wrong with carbs if done right.

Id say that a carb would be the way to go for a fun, relatively low cost track car.

Carbs are fun to play with at tracks. Once you get into fuel injection the fuel management systems get a lot more expensive.

I would find any early early notch ('79-'85). Lightest to start with and of course they are carbed. Carb is what you want with any engine combo I can think of from 306 thru 427.
Use C-4 trans. You'll be swapping rear axles to an 8.8" but thats no big deal......

"Long term project" tells me you might want to consider a 4-banger foxbody. You can find clean notch's all day long with a straight chassis for $500-$750 IMHO.....

ORIGINAL: AdderMk2

get a 89-92 fox notch... nice and light (ugly as hell though)

make sure its an LX so you dont have to worry too much about making it light

hush your mouth! everyone knows that the notches are better looking than the hatches! LOL ... don't hate the player ... hate the game [8D]
