no mine doesnt do that! its probably the sending unit. might be the float they get pinholes in them and start reading wrong but they usually dont read full when they go bad cause they stop floating and sink and read empthy all the time i would run all the gas out and remove the sending unit and test it!

my 96 did that a few times...gauge would only read between half and full and would fool you to drive too far...wasn't bad mileage though. then it started working again and has been fine since! ~still scratching head~

i had a 93, and the guage wouldnt work,
so i dropped the tank and looked in.
the float was chilling at the bottom of the tank.
and i was like "sup float?"
so i put a wine cork on my sending unit.
works fine now
so i dropped the tank and looked in.
