Default suck thru vs. blow thru MAF

Which is better in a forced induction set-up?

Can a blow thru accurately read the Mass of "compressed" air?
I hear of all kinds of idle issues with blow thru setups, would it be best to have a suck thru?

If anyone could share their knowledge on this subject, it would be great.

Blowthrough. Sorry, forget the explanation. But that's what I have.

There are a couple of things to take into account when talking about those two styles of MAF units.

On lower boost applications, like s-trims and small Paxtons and the like, you really don't need to invest in one. We have a 97 Cobra with a Novi 2000 and a bunch of boost that required some work to get it to be really streetable. We needed to upgrade the Bypass to the Vortech Mondo BOV and we wanted to vent it to the atmosphere so that was another reason, but they can be a pain to install...some of them, like the one we have (PMAS Pro Tube) needs 6-8" of straight before and after the meter. That can be kind of tough to find in all the bent up tubing used to make these kits work.

What are you trying to build / accomplish?

It depends on the location of the MAF. Thats the difference between drawthrough and blow through.

Basically, look at it like this, if the MAF is on the inlet side of your turbo or supercharger, drawthrough is best, if your MAF is on the discharge side of the turbo or supercharger, blow through is best. While there are variations in setup, thats the general idea.

Precisely. That's why we chose it when going to a BOV from a bypass.

The turbo kit I'm looking at getting has a blow thru set-up.

I've heard suck thru is better and less idle and tuning problems.
It would be very easy to modify this kit to a suck thru mass air meter setup
Would it be worth it to change to suck thru system with BOV dumping back into air intake system

I need a good streetable set-up.
