I have tried that. The light stays on all the time. No blinking. It is bright when the key is on and dim when the key is off. I followed the instructions step by step. I have disconnect the wires that fried. The instructions say to press in the clutch, would it not work properly because the neutral switch is not being read?

Not a good sign, reads like you have a serious wiring problem that requires some tracing...sorry....you will need a wiring diagram..... check the ones available at http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/ ....you may also want to go through this "No Codes" checklist.
