i actually dont know how old it is, but its motorcraft, and i want it to be brand new, i want everythign to be brand new, so im trying to figure who i should go with i was thinking msd but pro said they have a high failure rate. atm i have the accel cap & rotor & accell wires, and it just bugs me that i didnt change the distributor also. car sat up for about 4 years so everythings motor wise is pretty dirty they had mud divers nest on my headers lol.

I see, I dont know about msd's failure rate but I only deal in carbureted big blocks, they may have problems on small blocks I dont know.

Check out CraneCams distributors and ignition systems, just as good as MSD and better distributors

i've got a full msd ignition, and it has given me zero trouble. i have never heard of this high failure rate. what's in a dizzy that can fail? a couple of bearings and the reluctor/pickup? i had an msd 6al box that failed once, other than that, no probs. you really don't need the msd setup. it won't give you any power. i only used it in place of the duraspark and ecu.

you may be able to save some money using a different manufacturer. if you aren't using efi, i would suggest davis unified ignition (D.U.I). it's basically gm hei ignition adapted to a ford dizzy. one 12v source wire is all it takes to wire it up.

The module. 2 in 2 weeks was enough for me. Sent it back and put the stocker back in. No more problems. I've seen where alotta ppl have commented the same thing about thier MSD dizzies. Guess you got a lucky one.

what module???? you mean the tfi thing? the factory one sucks too. my msd dizzy is just a magnetic trigger unit, it doesn't have that crappy tfi module on it. those tfi moldules are prolly the worst idea that ford ever had, and that includes the edsel. just get rid of the factory ignition all together, you'll be gald you did.
