Default Airbag Replacement

If my airbag was accidentally deployed, how hard is it to replace it and do I have to replace anything else (like a sensor/switch) aside from the actual airbag??

I bought my car like this and just found out that the airbag is missing.

It has some kind of cover setup on it.

Thanks,
Ivan

I think you have to just plug a new one into the wheel. That's it... I think.

You might want to check the fuse though.

I just took out the old one...really easy 4 10mm bolts from behind the wheel...

I'll check the fuses as well....thank you.

Not sure but in my brothers focus he had to replace all kinds of crap. Both bags, clock spring, seatbelt, sensor, and something else. Cant remember what.

All I can say to do is put one in and see if you still get an airbag light. If you do start replacing other stuff. Be sure to have the battery unpluged when you hook the new one up (or you'll have a nice "rug burn"!).

Ebay has the bags all day long for $40....

...and the sensors for around $79...

I would think that everything else wouldn't be too bad. I mean, if we can all do engines, heads, cam, and intakes, what's the problem with installing an airbag and it's componenets if don't by the book?

If some slacker working at Ford making $18/hour can do it, so can we right?

Thanks for the insight. At first I thought that I had an issue similar to that...accidentally initiated, but later found damage that showed like they could be correlated.

What do "they" check for do you know?

Thanks,
Ivan
