First 1/4 mile run!

First 1/4 mile run!
Well I ran the first quarter miles for the 'ol 83. Not exactly what I was hoping for. I have been running 1/8ths because the track is alot closer to my home. During the eighths, everything runs fine. She pulls great. However, yesterday at the quarters I was disappointed at how she felt. I ran:
15.56 @ 89
15.50 @ 89
15.26 @ 90
15.38 @ 90
Anyhow, I would have been fine with this except the car just wasnt running right. I usually shift at 5500 RPMs but it was really starting to cut out at 5000. I ended up just shifting near there, because it felt really held back. I was told that this could be caused by the coil or distributor, but why didnt this problem come up a month ago when I was running eighths? I really havent gone through and cleaned and repaired anything. Actually, I havent given it a tune up yet either. Maybe a new fuel filter?
Anyones advice would be great on this. Just dont make fun of my pathetic times, because they are just inspiration to get this thing movin' .

RE: First 1/4 mile run!
IMHO, a dual-plane intake and 600 cfm holley would be a better choice for this one. unless you plan on upgrading to a better block and heads. not bad times, i guess, but its definitly time for a tune-up. what did you run in the 1/8 mile?

holley makes double pumper's
and you need a better block for a cam swap?

double pumper requires more tuning and is overkill. i was refering to the 4160 holley carb. half the price and plenty for this combo. very little tuning necessary.
his block could be converted to a hydraulic roller cam, but i wouldn't reccommend it. the block is very weak(thin cast).
