Damn car
Ok so my car has had a miss fire for some time now and I havent done much to fix it. Well I let the car sit for a while and when I came back it wouldnt start, so the new starter went in today along with a new fuel filter, I put the fuel filter in because I thought maybe it was a clogged fuel filter because I used arco which is **** around here. Anyways, still missing a little bit and I need to put my new ICM in but I dont have the right size socket for that. There you go.

ummm... does the car just need a tune up?? plugs/wires/cap/rotor?? the Ignition Control Module's usual hint that its going bad is when the car has trouble with hot starts -- meaning it will crank and crank and crank, but not fire when the engine is already hot.
how much did u pay for the ICM tho? and where did you get it? cause i need one for my 88

RE: Damn car
I did get a new cap rotor wires and plugs. Im thinking maybe the plugs werent gapped right. It started a long time ago when i was on the freeway and I floored it at 80mph. Then it worked its way down out of no where to flooring it in second gear and all of the above gears. I dont even have to floor it even if I give it a little extra gas it will miss, thats when Im in like 3 or 4th or 5th gear though.

RE: Damn car
mine used to do this from time to time. try cleaning the mass air flow sensor, if you have a k&n filter the oil builds up on the filament and causes your car to run like crap. you may even have to replace it if you have a bad sensor.
also I just changed my I'M I used a 1/4 in ratchet with I think it was a 3/16 socket. you have to use a long socket to make it fit. its snug, but will fit.
I also just changed my stator, I found that you do not have to pull the distributor out to do this. all you have to do is pull the cap & rotor off. you will also have to take off the plastic molding that the cap clips to. under the rotor there is a round plate that has two screws holding it in, take out the screws, this plate comes right off. underneath the plate you just removed there is another plate this one is oval in shape. mark the shaft and oval plate with a marker with a line to make it easier for alignment when you reinstall it. now pry off this oval plate, be careful not to bend it. now you can get to the stator. replace it and reverse process for assembly. I used a socket to press the oval plate back onto the shaft. make sure your lines you made with your marker lines up, or you timing will be off.
