starting/ timing problem

Default starting/ timing problem

i have a 1988 lx 5l and when i go to start my car it turns over and it was working fine then all of sudden it wouldent start. i checked the distributer and the shaft was finebut what the distributer attaches too wasent turning durring start so it wasent turning the distributer. i have no idea can yous help me.

the gear on the cam turns the gear on the bottom of the shaft of the distributor. so what you're describing is confusing. i get the idea you're not too experience at working on your 'stang. if you've turned the engine over with the dist. out you have to retime it again with cyl #1 at tdc on compression stroke

Thanks for the reply. Well i did just get it and i know how to retime but i just wasent to shure where the dist was connected to. but retiming is not a problem.

i have had 2 times now when i either kill my car or i turn it off that it wont start up. the key to that is the TPS i believe i just gave the gas pedal 1 pump and she started right up. mind you i have an EFI car.
