Default Flush coolant (black radiator.. etc)

Can someone right a quick how to for flushing the collant junk with a garden hose? It seems simple enough but I don't want to screw anything up. My heads are cast iron not aluminum... Thanks!

Ive been having a little bit of trouble with overheating and want to make sure its not a clog...

Well you have your upper rad hose and lower... disconnect both
If its an auto disconnect the tranny line at bottom too....

Then flush away.... Please be responsible with the coolant though (animal lover here)

Just stick the hose in the upper hole or what? Also can you flush the block just by taking the thermostat out and using a hose again?
Thanks

1-drain the radiator into a container and recycle the used antifreeze
2-put some kind of hose over the drain fitting and direct it away from the engine
3-refill the radiator with fresh water with the drain open
4-start the engine while still filling radiator from garden hose
5-use a rag and stuff it around the hose in the radiator filler to hold in some pressure as best you can and open hose nozzle as much as possible
6-keep running engine with fresh water entering/leaving radiator for 5 minutes or so
7-shut off engine and let radiator drain completely
8-remove hose and close drain plug
9-refill with fresh mix 50/50 antifreeze and water
10-start engine and watch level in radiator, add more mix as needed as engine comes up to temperature and thermostat opens
11-once level is up to normal, replace radiator cap and let engine run a few minutes more
12-check for any leaks while engine is still running, if none, shut off engine
13-put away all tools and hoses
14-go drink cold beer, you're done!

roundman...dude you need a can of napa flushes to loosen up deposit in the engine and rad....so after #8 fill with water put in the napa soap, run the car for about 15 min or do an erran..then do 1-8 again fill with a 100k antifreeze and 1 can of water wetter then repeat # 14 several times

sure can't argue about step #14, that's for sure. using a chemical flushing is also a good idea too. Dupont makes or used to make a good two part radiator/block cleaner that I had good success with in past years. It was a dry acid that you put in after the intial flushing then drive the car around for 30 minutes to circulate it thoroughly, then you drained it, put in the second part which neutralized the acid and let it circulate, then drain and flush it all out and refill with new coolant. not sure if this stuff is still around or whether it is recommended for aluminum radiators, but it sure worked good on copper ones. just about time for step #14 now!

duh, I don't think I've ever been out there the first time yet!
I do plan to do some travelling all over the USA now that I'm retired and have the time for it, so you never know where I might pop up one day! Besides you and your Stang, what other tourist attractions should I plan to visit in NM? Wasn't the first A-bomb set off out there somewhere?
