it depends on weather conditions too.

also remember every car is different.

Just wondering because I just got my 93 yesterday and I am going to bump it this weekend to 12.... I think I will just run 89

So when Im doing my timing should I have like a gallon or two of gas in there so if it does start to ping I can just fill it up w/ 89?

either that or just buy a bottle of octane booster. But more than likely you wont have a problem. Mine is 15* I run 87 octane with no problem.

Wow, thats really high for 87 octane...

I will try 12 and see what happens. Does anyone have a tech article on timing? We really need one for the stickies...

Im running 14* with 85 octane. Does altitude affect when your car will start pinging?

I would think that it would have some affect, but not sure how much. At first I bumped mine to 16 and that is when I heard it start to ping so I retarded it 2*'s. I am at about 5300 feet so that might have something to do with it.
