on average...... how much would it cost to have gears installed if i buy the gears and master shim kit with bearings?

dont know about speedo gear but 450 should get the gear and it installed. if not there charging too much IMO. most places charge from 150 to 250 to install it depending where your located some could charge more. and the gear is around 160.

the cheapest place i found out here in so. cal is

i think $500 for everything, they buy the gears

and everything needed

You should be able to get gears done for 500 plus or minus a few bucks. The cost of a GOOD 3000 rpm converter is going to be about 550 for the converter. I've heard that the isntall isn't too bad if you plan on doing it your self. Otherwise, expect to spend another 250 to 350 for the install. I picked up a shift kit for about 60 bucks and did the install my self and it was a PITA, but it only took a few hours. I would definentally do gears first, then a converter, and then a manual valve body and shift kit. I'm not sure what else is required if you install a manual valve body.

yes and no, the 23t will get you close.

you can't fully correct for 4.10's w/ out changing the drive gear, the 23t driven gear alone will not do it.

it will correct for 3.73's, to be fully corrected you need like 6t drive and 20t driven, but an aod has the drive gear machined on the output shaft and requires replacing it to have a new drive gear.

so basically do the 23t and take what you get.

don't buy the bearing kit, b4 you get prices, usually cheaper to let the shop supply it, since they get good prices, same goes for the gear. expect $200-$300 for install cost
$200 for the gear, and $150 for the kit, but usually a shop will charge $500-$600 out the door for total

thats wierd cause steeda sells a speedo gear for 4.10's and thats the one i was talkin about..... how much will it be off?
