Well a decent set of aluminum heads will cost almost as much as a rebuild so just almost double the price right there.....
Well eliminating the heads...is it possible to run a cam with the stock heads?

I am not having someone do the buildup..my uncle and I are going to do it (the car guru of the family, he rebuilds motors like its brushing his teeth).

Heres the thing, for ex: if you got a set of AFR 165's or 185's they will cost you 1250+ BUT there are also many other good heads out there that arent that much money. You can also look into used heads.... theres always someone out there who buys stuff and doesnt install it or installs it for a few months and takes them off. Look for deals and I am sure you can find a really nice head for 600-700 dollars. Also, a cam w/ stock heads is kind of pointless. You can do it but wont see much gain.
