Hey guys, I'm from Connecticut and we dont really have any 1/4 mile strips to go to, but we have a track that people can rent out (Lime Rock). I know slicks are ideal for the 1/4 mile, but what would be the best type of tire to put on for a track? Street, Radials, Slicks..?

if u wanted a good street and strip tire, drag radials are prolly what u want.

Mickey Thompson makes a good set of street radials. The only problem is they are only made for 15/16/17 inch wheels, and if you are trying to use the 19"s in your sig, you'll have to get a different set of wheels just for the track. I personally have tested the 245/50/16 and they had some crazy hook on the street.

Nah I'm not going to be racing with my car...
The tires are going to go on my dad's new z06
It's primarily going to be used on that track, not too much on the street.
It's black on black, and we are going to be getting new black rims on it so it will look like this >>

With those rims, we we're considering putting on some nice tires for the track...
So radials it is, even though it will be seeing mostly track, not much road?

I have had good luck with my nitto 555's. They hook well on the street as well as the strip. I know you will run it on the streets looking for mustangs, good luck.

bf goodrich g-force tires are very good.
M/T drag radials are more for drag racing, and will wear out fast if using them on roads or an autocross track.
mine lasted 5 weeks on the dragstrip on fridays and the street every other day.

Would slicks be good for track races?

they heat up quick and will wear fast, they will hook good when dry, but might last only a couple of laps.

I heard these Drag Radials were very good:
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup
Yokohama ADVAN A032R
Anybody have experience with those?
