oh i never ran it without the spout, and i do think its a bad idea because wouldnt the engine detonate at lower rpm with such high advance?

Actually at idle the computer will want to advance the timing as far as it can because it's ot under a load

Right. I wouldn't worry about just set the base timing without the SPOUT connected to 13 degrees, then put the connector back in.

Well i don't know if we are talking same thing? But is it the chip that plugs in to the distributor that advances and retards the timing? (well sends it to computer?) Well if so mine runs better with it out, b/c i went to track put in set timing at 14deg and ran i ran a 15.78 then i took it out and bumped timing to like 20 or 21 degrees and then ran a 15.05. I here a lot of people running the automatics which i have with out them, but you have to know how to set the timing with out having lifters and everything start knocking! I still have mine off and have ran it that way for maybe a year. This is just my info and what i think and have heard.

im sure it is not good, but im sure if you read up on it and do it right you can tune it to work. B/c my older brother who has worked on cars for maybe 15 years or more noticed mine was not there and then gave it more timing to 25 and the lifters started to chatter a little, so we bumped down to 20 or 21 and it ran fine and didn't some, didn't seem to hurt. When i found out it was not in there i got another out of the same year car and put in and it started to die when it idled and it was SLOW! So we called a local dude that lives mustangs and he said he runs his auto's like that and so does some other people and he told him what to do and we went to track and ran it with it in and got a 15.74 and then we took out set timing again and it ran a 15.05 and picked up 2mph then put back in again and set time and got about the same as first a 15.69 and then we proceeded to take out and set timing again and ran a 15.06 and then left it like that and ended up getting 2 more 15.05-7 runs. Still running with out it and now i am down to a 14.76 at 94 with a aod with just gears and exhaust.
