running with spout off....

RE: running with spout off....
If you run too far you can mess stuff up. Head gaskets whatnot, you shouldn't have it anywhere past like 14 degrees. As for running with the spout off I have no idea if it's good, bad, or why you'd want to.

I'm pretty sure if you leave the spout off, then the computer cannot advance or retard the timing thru the rpm range. The timing will just stay stuck at 13, or what ever you have set it at.
I personnally wouldn't recommend running without the spout, unless you have all kinds of money and time to fix what breaks if you do

Dungeounracer is correct. Running without spout is very dangerous. Your computer will not be able to provide the proper fuel when you increase throttle. That would make your car run lean and cause lots of damage in the long run. Spout is only to establish base timing and then put it back in. I would not run car more than 16 degrees. That is if you have no power adder such as a blower or NOS. I would run 13 or 14 to be safe.

If you look at your timing with spout connected, it goes way up (like 30 deg) as you give it more throttle. I would think you would have less power at high RPMs without the spout connected.

SPOUT is actually spark output. The timing the computer thinks the car should be at after getting the PIP signal from the ignition module and other sensors. Disconnecting the SPOUT connector is only for base timing adjustments only. Retime your car to 13-14 degrees and put the SPOUT connector back in pronto.
