hood flew off....
I bought another mustang this weekend. It's a '93 5.0lx. the body is alittle rough and I need to fix the left rear quarter panel from alittle surface rust and get the car painted. It has near perfect black interior and a sunroof. I picked it up for $2,000 but the AOD is slipping too. it wont shift out of 1st.
thats fine tho, because I have a t-5 that was in my totalled 5.0 that i'll put in.
my question is: the previous owner was driving on the highway, and the hood came off and dented the whole panel inftont of the windshield, including the vent area. It obviously stops where the fenders connect on both sides of the hood, so those are fine, and the hood is fine. is it possible to replace that whole panel and the vent? is the entire panel that goes all the way across the windshield tack welded on, or screwed on? seeing how I have another fox body sitting at home and was hit from the rear, the whole front end of the car is intact. can I simply take the panel and the vent off and replace or will I need body work?

RE: hood flew off....
when I bought this mustang I have now, it had a bent cowl panel just like yours. All I did was take the old one off, and put the new one on with tack welds. They are tack welded from the factory. It's a pain to get it off without messing up somthing. take your time getting the old one off and it will be fine...

thats a good question... the previous owner was on the highway and the hood pind on the cowl hood came disconnected somehow???
its fiberglass, so im suprised ir didnt crack, there is alittle damage underneath the top part of the cowl, but nothing visible on the outside. and it still alligns and it's a nice *** hood.

Here are some pics of before, after I got the old cowl off, then after I welded the new cowl on.
