power shifting you use the clutch. when you shift without the clutch it is like double clutching except you let the sycros line up then you just pull it into gear <they wouldnt call that powershifting b/c you do it really slow and it will mess up your sycros

best technique i use for power shifting (shifting without lifting off gas), basically i'll explain to you a full pass in my car....keep in mind my power band may be a bit higher then yours...

at the line i bring the car up to 55-5800, drop the clutch, hand off the shifter because the tire shock will force my hand back pulling the car out of gear.

put my hand back on the shifter right as it gets out, and before the shift pull down on the shifter as if i were trying to take it out of gear but not hard enough to where i actually pull it out. Jamb the clutch to the floor and naturally since i'm already pulling the shifter down toward second, the moment the clutch pedal hits the release point it pops into 2nd and i release the pedal.

same thing for 3rd and 4th.

when my car was bone stock with just a 3.73, offroad h, shortys, flowmasters and no a/c or smog on a 235/60 drag radial i was going 13.7's full weight minus spare tire and thats an 85, a few hp down from the 87-93's.

make sure you have your clutch adjusted right so it releases a little more up toward the top but not too far up or else it wont release alll the way. and make sure you have a nice shifting trans too and probly want a good shifter, though i honestly still use my stock shifter.

i learned it easily only missed a gear once in the car shifting this way, but like i said make sure you have a stout drivetrain and everything is adjusted correctly.

and everyones style of driving is different. best thing to do is get to know your own car and what works best for you.

and do not be afraid to break parts!!!
