NewB questions
Hi All. I have a battered 1987 GT that I am playing around with. This car needs everything you could imagine- the poor thing was abused beyond belief. Anyway, the past owner broke the key in the hatch, and mangled the lock. I "may" be able to get a lock smith to make a new key for the doors, but need a new lock and key for the hatchback. I just got off the phone with a local junkyard, and they thought one out of whatever mustang would work. I may be going up to get a hood, and get a lock if there's one that will work. Will I need one from a hatchback or would one out of a notch work? Also the little brackets that hold the hatch "helpers" (the pistons) will these off any other vehicle work? I have no idea why these were taken off, but anyway.........appreciate any and all input.

RE: NewB questions
I don't see why a "trunk" lock would be different than a "hatch" lock.
The hatch struts will have to be from/for a mustang hatch. There are many different sizes out there for different vehicles. If I recall they are fairly inexpensive new from the auto parts store.

RE: NewB questions
I don't have an Autozone here, only in the USA? In my area, its mostly either the dealer, or general car parts stores, which aren't always a help. I assume the locks out of a notch would be the same, hopefully.

RE: NewB questions
And just for information sake. Changing the door lock cylinders is a 10 minute job. I haven't done the hatch though. Nothing hard or tricky about it at all. If you do decide to get all 3, PM me or hit me up on my5oh.com and I'll help you.
