Default Problems...

When i wrecked my car a while back i hit a minivan im pretty sure i bent my lower a arm on the car. So now i bought a new a arm and i need to be able to compress the spring to be small enough to fit back in its place. No spring compressor that i have found will work. The hole in the lower a arm is only like 1 1/2 big so i cant use the spring compressor i got to do it. I need a compresspr that will get t he spring small enough to put it on the a arm and back in its groove by the strut. Does anyone have the spring compresser they used or can this be done another way.

my favorite thing to do is use a jack and SLOWLY lower the jack down with you completly out of the way.....i can change lower rear control arms in less than 30 minutes this way....no so sure if itll work on the front.....see what the others say about this.....i might be retarded....who knows....

Ive done it without a spring compressor. But I had to cut half a coil and use a big pry bar to get them to fit

All you have to do is take your brake caliper off then put a jack under your spindle. Jack it up just enough to take the pressure off the strut unbolt your strut and lower the spindle with your jack and the spring will pretty much just fall out. It's real simple just be careful.

Yep the jack method works great with a pry bar. Unbolt the strut and you will be able to just let it drop out.

yes, but what about INSTALLING a stock height spring? Same as 5.0coupe, the spring needs to be compressed to fit back between the perches. We just spent 1/2 a day trying to get a s compressor to work. Wont do it, hole is too small in bottom perch. help!

You have to let the arm hang all the way down. Push the spring in place and then w/ a bib prybar, pry it the rest of the way in as you jack the control arm back up. Works better w/ 2 ppl. It's a bitch but that's how you do it. An yes, be careful. The springs can be very dangerous under load.

Thanks. This will work with the stock height spring? Do you need to the disconnect the tie-rod end?
