My wife just bought her sister's '95 GT Convertible, and on the second day of driving I noticed the gears are slipping... happens mostly when hitting the gas hard (it'll drop like 2 gears and almost redline before I let off the gas). It has 140,000km (87,000 miles).

Do we just need to change the tranny fluid and filter or are we in for some trouble? I've never owned a mustang so I have zero knowledge (and I ran a search for 'slipping' but it returned no results).

If its a stick, do you put it into gear then step on the gas? if so and it feels like its slipping, thats your Clutch.

Sorry to tell you buddy but your probably going to have to get that tranny rebuilt or replaced. Once a transmission starts to slip it doesn't get better it gets worse.
