that seems too low to start with - I don't want the guy to think I'm not serious and say "get outta here" when I offer him that.

u can always start low, if i have learned anything from my dad its how to bargen. if you say 3800 he is going to be like i have to get at least 4500 for it, and bam u just knocked 500 off of it. but when he says 4500 be like 4300? then he will be like 4500 again. and then u can be like well i guess that sounds good

K sounds good. I hate to not have all the money when I make an offer - nobody wants big cars anymore...having such a hard time selling my current car. At least I'll be able to give him $1,000 to hold it till my car sells. Should I ask him for the title so he doesnt esentially steal my $1,000?

tell him all u got is $3800 cash

i talked to my old owner a couple weeks before he started at $2800 we talked some more online, he sent me pics we then agreed on $2400

i saw it in person i told him all i had was $1500 cash and showed it to him and he said he would drive it home so i wrote him a $300 check and he took the cash.

still even tho i didnt get it for what i wanted (1500) i talked him down nearly a grand

start low man and when u get there, go even lower and point out blemishes and little problems they will add up and when hes heard enough he will take it

TRUST ME

i know how to pursuade people

I got mine for 4500 with 60,000 miles on the clock, with probably the same amount of mods. Bought it in Maryland too. I'd try to lower that guy's price some.

This wont work as he knows I have to sell my current car to pay him (in full). I'll just say "I'll give you $3,800 with $1,000 cash down right now." and work from there. He said "If you want the car I'm sure we can work something out" when I told him I have to sell my current car.
