What is the best year of 5.0 LX to get?
I am very interested in getting a 5.0 LX coupe and I want to know what the best year of those is? Yes I know it is an opinionated question but I would like to know some people's opinions. So far I have found out that in '93 the pistons were changed from the forged pistons to some other ones...It seems as though they basically remained unchanged from 87-93. How much did these weigh also? So which one is the best? lol!!!
Thanks guys. Sorry for going on and on.........................................

im guessing go with a 92
last year with forged and basically your latest model
and i think notchback's weigh about 100+lbs less than the hatch
so if you can find a 92 notchback i'd go n pickitup

Definitely look for a '90-'92 5.0. The '87-'89 5.0s had weaker T5 transmissions (this is provided you want a manual) as they were rated to handle 265 ft. lbs. of torque stock, which is what the engine makes stock! In '90 the T5 was improved with stronger gears to handle 300 ft. lbs. stock. Still sucks, but better than 265 ft. lbs. '87-'88 5.0s are speed density cars, and '89-'93 are mass air.
