Default LX Coupe Trunk Question

I was wondering if anyone knew how to re-install the torsion bars for a 92LX Coupe deck lid. The guy I bought it from who took the deck lid off to install a stero amp and didn't put back in. It's a pain in the butt when I need to put some thing in the trunk having to hold up the trunk with one hand and put something in with the other. Any pics or info would be appreciated.

unfortunatly I recently had to do the same thing. It is a pain in the @$$. It will be hard to explain. I will go to my shop tomorrow after I get off of work and take some pics of it . Mabye you can figure it out by looking at them. You have to twist the rods 1/2 around lots of tension. Once i got it close, I had to use a hammer to knock it all the way in.

i'm sorry, but you really can get the pic you need in the trunk. I'll try to draw it out for you. All you have to do is put the long side in place first. the hard part is turning the rod 180 deg . Make sure when you turn it ,YOU TURN IT UPWARD TOWARD THE REAR OF THE CAR.That way it will have tension holding when the trunk is closed. It's going to take some persuading to get the rod into the trunk slot. I'm sorry the pics were not good enough. hope this helps

Thanks synyster.......so the short side goes to the driver side and the long side gets twisted 180 to passenger side. Not sure about the other drawing? where exactly do you put the rod into??? Does it go right into trunk lid arm? If you don't mind alittle more explanation would help.

Thanks again for your time and effort.

No there actually just metal rods, and when you twist them they act as springs.

Sorry, the short side goes into the trunk lid, and the long side goes into the adjustment rack. When you put the long side into the adjustment rack, just let it loose, don't hook it yet because it will be harder to slide the rod into the trunk lid. The wheel well willstop the rod from turning all the way. This is the tuff part, once you've got the rod in place, then grab the rod turning it 180 deg upward toward the rear deck. Then slide the rod into the slot on the trunk lid. It would be easier if you had a friend help you with this. I unfortunatly did this by myself, because I'm to impaitent to wait for help... Hope I explained it a little better. Synyster
