Default More belt problems!!! ( Vortec v-1)

Well, heres the thing, we got the belt on and went to the dyno, but every time it reaches 5800 the belt starts to come off.. The guys at the dtno shop say they think its the a/c or power steering aren't lining up. But the only thing that confusses us is the brackets are all right so mabey sometings bent..It was fine before we did the install. Anyone run into this.. The car made 375 rwhp, but he has 24# injectors so they maxed out quick. i will get a video up in a few...o'yea third gear has alot of traction problems with nitto 555r's...lol.

Well if he's never had this problem before the s/c install, I'd say that the pulley on the s/c is off. Call Vortec and see what they reccomend. BTW where the hell do you go to get a car dynoed in Colorado. And one more thing, what class is he going to be running in up at bandimere on the 25th?

What size belt you using?

Maybe need a shorter belt to get more tention out of it.

The way I lined up my belt is use one of those laser guides to make sure it wouldnt twist off.

The SC sounds sexy sounds just like mine.

What were her numbers before you shut it off?

372 thats because the 24# injectors were maxed.. the car ran good, but the belt comes off at high rpm. he only runing 5lbs of boost.

We are supposed to be in the 5.0 class, but he is not going to run his car if the belt won't stay on. And i have the heads off my car right now, i was going to put edelbrock 1.90 on there but the guys at dyno pro didn't like the set up i had. So i think im going to sell the heads at ford with roller rockers( they are in perfect condition) and pick up some afr 185's..I also heard that its suposed to rain just like it has for the past three years!

And Dyno Pro (Finish line) is the place to be.. there a little expensive but they get your car perfect..
here is the owners car it's a 92 notch with a 408 procharged!!! 870 hp..

I don't think that I'm going to make it up there. I'll probably have my intake and stuff off, I doubt that it'll be done by then.

i had/have the same problem but my belt jumps forward. it didnt do it when i had my old tensioner when i first put the sc on but after a while the alt would slip cause the tensioner was dead. put on a new tensioner and the belt jumps the ac. i got a tensioner pulley that has guides on the side to help hold the belt in place. havent been on the dyno since i installed it. im going on the 1st so ill let you know if it fixed the problem.
