Default Would I Benefit?

Well, last night I bumped my timing to about 13. I was running 87 octane and had no pinging what so ever. I only had like 1/8th of a tank and I filled up w/ 89 octane. I figure that I could bump it some more w/ out any pinging but would I really benefit from it?

BTW, I also removed my air silencer and w/ the timing bumped I can definetly feel a difference. Its not huge but its something.. and it was FREE!

Also, I ran my car last night w/ my G-Tech and I ran 15.49 (I ran it about 3-4 times and all were within 15.49-15.70) with me and another guy in the car who weighs 210lbs. So basically if a 100lb's is worth a tenth I should be running around 15.2X's. Does this sound right or too low for a stock automatic 5.0 w/ an air silencer removed and bumped timing? Thanks.

Sounds a little slow to me, I thought a BONE STOCK 5.0 GT 87-93 was a low 15sec car. As for the timing, my base is 13*, Ive heard some ppl crank it to 16*, but run ONLY premium gas if you do that. Personally, I didnt notice a difference between 13* and 16*. But now running some 110 octane torco I sure did, it felt like a totally different car.
Heres some things Id do, depending on if you have to have your car emission tested (they dont require it here), remove your air pump, get AT LEAST the crank UD pulley, some of the newer stangs have problems with that because they have a low output alternators mine is 130 amp (yes thats factory), get an offroad H or X pipe, and a 180* t-stat. That should give you about 20-30HP (Thats on the conservative side). Maybe an open element air cleaner might help also, couldnt hurt anyway.
-P.

That's not bad, but you're also assuming that thing is accurate. It may be a little off, meaning you're faster than what is says....

My timing is at 14*. I was advised to run 91/93 just to be safe. Once something bad happens, that's it. I don't feel like doing another rebuild at the moment.

From what i've heard those G-tec things are accurate within a tenth or a hundredth of a second, can't remember, but I'm definentally picking one of them suckers up.

Meh, my brother has one of those, I've never tested it out to see how accurate it was at the track, but just played around with it on the street which is just asking for trouble. The readings never seem to come out right as for horsepower and stuff. You can pick one up at summit I think. I personally wouldn't get one, its like when your friends got that nintendo pad thing that you run on, its so sweet you just gotta play it, but after a couple times you're already bored of it. I think its cheaper/safer/funner just to head to the track for the weekend. That's just me tho, to each their own.

HAHA god, I hope not! If it does, I just might accidentally miss that last return road... Nah I haven't taken it down yet, I was waiting on the weather, but it seems like its not tuned right, I just actually spent some more money and got a 70mm t-body to finish things off. I'm gonna go hit a dyno tuner sometime soon, and hopefully get my stuff together then go try and hopefully lay down a high 12.
