I use the WIX filters out there, best filters you can get!!!! maybe a couple more bux, but from what I've read they're definentally worth it. And I use the Valvoline high mileage oil 10w30 (has some additives that help preserve seals and such).

Stay away from all of the flim flam Fram filters.
One of the problems is a bad/weak backflow valve, so that oil will not drain out of the top of the block when you shut off the motor.
Every time I have pulled a Fram filter from my car it has been dry.
That has not happened since switching to K&N and Mobil filters.
I also see slightly higher oil pressure with the K&N and Mobil filters, ~5psi.
I have several good oil websites listed on my site (bottom of page).

One site has a very in depth comparison of many oil filters.
The sooner you quite taking the car to "professional" "technicians" the happier you will be with the quality of work being done on your car.
But that is just my opinion
