Tomorrow I may have the chance to buy the upper and lower plus the heads off a 97 Explorer, 5.0 the guy is being nice enough to throw in the block also for free. Here is my question: Is a 97 Explorer 302 block the exact same as my 91? Will everything be a direct bolt on? I looked at it today and noticed a couple differences, like the oil filter was smaller and on some sort of elbow. The guy Im buying everything from says the blocks are identical. I want to make sure before I haul the thing over here. Chime in guys real quick.

IIRC, the intake & heads are better/more desireable than the intake & heads you have now correct? I say get it...if it's cheap.

Whats the differnece in the blocks though? Also whats the difference in GT 40 and GT 40 P?

Okay I researched the difference between the P heads and the non P heads. Apparenly there is a .500 higher compression ratio with the p's.


What about the block guys will I have any problem bolting on my 91 shat to the 97 explorer block?
